New fan convention celebrates anime and cosplay over Labor Day weekend.

Enjoy a great summer day outdoors at the San Diego Made Summer Market happening on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Liberty Station’s Ingram Plaza. This two-day outdoor festival celebrates the creative community and small businesses in San Diego with over 120 local vendors, live music, delicious food and drinks, crafts, photo ops, and more. This family-friendly event is a great way to shop small and explore one-of-a-kind items for yourself and loved ones. Children 10 and under get in free, and there is a $5 entry fee for adults to support the San Diego Made 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Be sure to grab a scavenger hunt card at the entrance—make three qualifying purchases and receive a free handmade gift (while supplies last)! Get ready to witness transcenDANCE's annual CREATE production "Harvesting Hope" on July 24 - 25, 2026. How is hope a tool for resilience, transformation, and collective care? How do small ideas and persistent action lead to positive change in our communities? What does it look like to cultivate hope in our own lives? Our 2026 CREATE production asks these questions through original contemporary and hip-hop dance pieces, interwoven with performance poetry and visual art. When transcenDANCE students spoke with local San Diego changemakers early this year, they learned about creative resistance, the many ways they as individuals can engage in changemaking, and what it takes to start and sustain change.
