This Sunday, May 31 beginning at 7 a.m., the American Lung Association in California’s annual "LUNG FORCE" Walk will take place at the Carlsbad Flower Fields. This family-friendly event raises critical funds for lifesaving research, early detection initiatives, programs and services to help achieve a world free of lung cancer and lung disease. The event provides an opportunity for engaging video, photos and interviews with participants affected by lung disease and lung cancer. - 5K walk through the Flower Fields’ beautiful farm paths and Pacific Ocean views - Artists gardens, bird aviaries, park benches and activities for the entire family - A Discovery Zone with hands-on, life-changing educational activities focused on protecting your lungs - A children’s playground with wagon rides and a giant inflatable set of lungs - An important opportunity to unite with families from around the region to save lives by promoting lung health and ending lung disease Who: Individuals, families and corporate teams from throughout the North County and all of San Diego who have been impacted by lung disease and lung cancer will be available for interviews onsite. Why: Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in California and across the U.S. Someone is diagnosed with the disease about every two minutes. But there is hope. More people are surviving lung cancer than ever due to increased awareness and advancements in detection and treatment. The five-year survival rate has increased to nearly 30%, which is a 26% increase over the last five years. The San Diego "LUNG FORCE" Walk has raised millions since 2014 to help end lung cancer. Nationally, "LUNG FORCE" has raised more than $35 million for lifesaving lung cancer research.
