In the spirit of Italian Heritage Month, Galbani® Bella Vita Fest celebrates Italian culture with chalk art, Italian music and wine, all in the heart of San Diego’s Little Italy, October 18-19, 2025. More than 40-plus expert chalk artists, depicting Italian themes, will line the streets of Little Italy, with live Italian music, La Cucina Galbani Cooking Stage, Italian merchants and Italian food for purchase. Plus, Italian winemakers will be offering tastings, via Vicolo del Vino. Food and wine tickets can be purchased here. October is Italian Heritage month, and the festival celebrates the tradition of street painting which began in 16th century Italy with traveling artists, many of whom had been brought into the cities to work on the cathedrals. When the work was done, they would often recreate the paintings of “Madonna” on the pavement; they became known as Madonnari. Street painting thrives today in festivals throughout the world. Street painters prefer this temporary performance art form that is created live before the eyes on the asphalt. This year, La Cucina Galbani Cooking Stage expands. Chef Marco, a brand ambassador for Galbani cheese, will hit the stage for several different on-stage cooking classes and demos. He blends artistry and expertise in the culinary realm; hailing from a rich culinary background, his innovative recipes highlight the versatility of Galbani cheeses and easy-to-make Italian-style dishes. With a commitment to excellence, Chef Marco's creations not only tantalize taste buds but also celebrate the heritage and tradition of Galbani cheese. Madison Gallery in Solana Beach will present "Four Seasons Interrupted" by internationally acclaimed Bosnian artist Radenko Milak, on view October 15 through December 15, 2025. Known for representing Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 57th Venice Biennale, Milak debuts a striking new series of 12–14 large-scale watercolors exploring climate disruption and the disappearance of seasonal rhythms. Set against the backdrop of New York City, these meticulously rendered works blur the line between painting and photography, creating a dreamlike tension between time, memory, and nature. "All these works move between fiction and reality. They resemble something familiar, scenes we seem to recognize, yet they do not truly exist. The entire series is conceived as a gap between what is real and what is imagined... a rupture where a new perception emerges," says Milak. The Ocean Conservancy and the California Coastal Commission partner with volunteer organizations, such as I Love A Clean San Diego to create the largest, international cleanup day. I Love A Clean San Diego leads the efforts for this day in San Diego County for the 41st year in a row. Data collected from this event feeds into the world’s largest database on marine debris. Join our efforts this year to be a part of this global event! This year, our countywide Coastal Cleanup Day will have around 100 + locations for volunteers to choose from, inland and coastal. Each site is hosted by a site captain (a specially trained volunteer) who will manage volunteers on site, properly dispose of the trash, and report back totals.
