  • The Fallbrook Gem and Mineral Society proudly presents their annual Fall Festival of Gems. At this family friendly street fair, everyone can discover gems, minerals, and fossils. With free parking and admission, this exciting festival is not to be missed. Immerse yourself in a world of gems with amazing mineral, gemstone, jewelry and fossil vendors. The festival will have a giant raffle of gem and mineral treasures, Wheel of Fortune, free gem ID, and children activities. The Gem and Mineral Museum, featuring local and international specimens, will be open with free admission during the event. The Fallbrook Gem and Mineral Society is a non-profit organization that gives back to the community with museum tours, classes, and events. The Fall Festival of Gems will be on October 8, 2023, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., in the parking lot across from the Fallbrook Gem and Mineral Museum, and on Alvarado Street – 123 W.   • Are you a plant lover who needs to elevate your propagation station? Or a forager who often finds yourself carrying home a bit of nature? Whether this describes you, or if you are looking to enhance your woodworking skills and make a thoughtful gift for someone, this workshop is for you. In this 1-day workshop, students will leave with a pair of bud vases of their own and the skills to begin creating their own designs. In this class we will cover shop safety and use of the bandsaw, spindle sander, edge sander, drill press, as well as various hand tools. Students will also learn sanding best practices and how to achieve a perfect finish. We welcome all makers, from beginners to advanced. Materials are provided. We recommend students bring your own eye protection, ear protection & apron. Aprons for sale here. No experience necessary. Ages 18+ welcome. Students are welcome to bring a snack for a short break mid-class. About Working For Women | Woodworking for Women classes are designed to empower women & nonbinary individuals in a supportive and educational woodshop environment which is predominantly a masculine space. In this project-based series of classes, we will cover the properties of wood, machine safety, and techniques on various tools and machines. We will also introduce machine and hand-sanding as well as methods for finishing your piece. Choose from a variety of classes and projects to develop your skills.
