This is a class that gets you started reading and speaking Yiddish from the very beginning. No previous knowledge required! If you’ve always wanted to get started with Yiddish, this is the class for you. We will start with Yiddish literacy, learning to read Yiddish (in Yiddish) by learning the alphabet. By the end of the first class, you will be able to read a full sentence in Yiddish. As we progress together, cheering you on – you will learn the whole alphabet and begin to learn how to express yourself. You’ll learn all about verbs, you’ll be able to start a conversation! Talk about the things you want, the things you need. This class takes a go light, go easy approach – with no stress, no shame. This isn’t the kind of class where you get called on (or out) or feel pressured. We can play collaborative games. The learning will be sweet, digestible and most of all fun. We will learn about Jewish culture, history, and other wonderful mysteries! The class has a sense of humor thanks to The Simpsons, and a welcoming warm environment – perfect for newcomers to the language. By the end of the course, you will be reading Yiddish in Yiddish, and have a a solid foundation of expression on which to build and grow as a new Yiddish speaker! If you are over 50, you spent quite a few years of your life listening and grooving to the great music created and performed by these gentlemen. The Temecula Wilburys show "book-ends" the show with songs from the wilburys grammy award winning first album. In between those "book ends" we fill the show with "sub-sets' of each of the artists. The songs are sooo.......nostalgic. You are guaranteed a few moments of the goosebumps that magically appear on your arms when you hear some of the songs that not too often performed in cover bands today. It's a 7 piece band with great harmonies and back up singers. The show does the wilburys......justice.

This 6-session class will be focused on conversational Yiddish. You will learn everyday greetings and basics of Yiddish conversation, as well as a few simple Yiddish songs. She is a PhD candidate in the Slavic Department at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is working on her dissertation on Yiddish Theater in Communist Warsaw. Originally from Poland, Jana holds a Master of Arts degree in Polish Philology and Jewish Studies from the University of Wrocław. Jana is not only a practicing academic but also an active theater artist and critic. She is an actor, director, playwright, and producer of Yiddish theater. Bella Vita Fest celebrates Italian culture with chalk art, Italian music, food, and wine in the heart of San Diego’s Little Italy, October 21-22, 2023. More than 40 chalk artists, depicting Italian themes, will line the streets of Little Italy, with live Italian music, Italian wine tasting, Italian food booths, and Italian products for purchase. October is Italian Heritage month, and the festival celebrates the tradition of street painting which began in 16th century Italy with itinerant artists, many of whom had been brought into the cities to work on the huge cathedrals. Street painting thrives today in festivals throughout the world. Street painters prefer this temporary performance art form that is created live before your eyes on the asphalt.
