  • A Nature Inspired Art Exhibition at Balboa Park’s Historic, Gallery 21 Three San Diego artists presents "Where the Sea Meets the Sky," an immersive exhibition opening June 30 at Gallery 21 in the Spanish Village Art Center, Balboa Park. This nature driven showcase invites visitors into a space where earth, water, air, and imagination flow together, celebrating the living rhythms of the earth. Featuring artwork by Elena Miller, Karen Haub, and Ira Cosmos, the exhibition brings together ceramics, paintings, and mixed media that explore the wild beauty connecting ocean depths, open sky, and the human spirit. Each artist offers a unique yet harmonious perspective on nature’s resilience, mystery, and transformative power.   • As part of the monthly First Friday event at Liberty Station, we hold an open house at Inspirations Gallery so that you can enjoy the artwork on our walls, talk to fellow writers, and snack on a few treats. We are currently hosting a photography exhibit by Patrick McMahon. "Abtsraction": A collection of extreme close up photographs enlarged to engage the viewer in wonder and curiosity. Join us on first Friday in June for a writer/creative meet up! Come at any time to view art and meet other community members.   • Summer starts here at Plaza Paseo Real! Join us for a playful morning filled with creative stations, hands-on discovery, music and interactive family fun designed for little explorers of all ages. Enjoy hands-on activity stations including a special Mini Makeover Station for tote bag decorating and a Color Chemistry Station where children can create their own “liquid science” bottle using pipettes, color mixing, density layering and glitter for a fun, take-home experiment.   • Le Petit Chef at Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is redefining dining in San Diego with an immersive experience that blends 3D projection mapping technology and a multi-course culinary journey. Designed as a “3D cinema on your plate,” the experience transforms the table into a theatrical stage where guests follow the animated adventures of the world’s smallest chef and his international companions through a series of playful, visually stunning performances, and you the audience get to decide which chef ultimately wins in the end. Over the course of approximately two hours, guests enjoy a globally inspired four-course menu with three distinct options—Classic, Vegetarian, and Junior—making it ideal for couples, families, and groups.   • Like fermentation, complex essays emerge through layering and time. In this class, you’ll practice tracing research paths and integrating outside sources into your personal narrative essay. We’ll focus on enlivening writing through research by helping you craft essays that are both intellectually grounded and supported by lyricism and story. Through close readings of researched personal essays, we’ll look at how writers braid research it into their own narratives. The session will include discussion, brief writing and research exercises, and generative prompts to support writers as you begin this process.   • Calling all young music lovers and their families! You are invited to "The Enchanted Tail," a magical opera for young audiences performed by Opera4Kids.   • All Are Welcome: Celebrating Accessibility at the Tijuana Estuary Saturday, June 13, 2026 10 a.m.– 1 p.m. Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center 301 Caspian Way, Imperial Beach, CA 91932 This free community event will celebrate improved accessibility at the Tijuana Estuary and our ongoing commitment to expanding access to nature for all visitors. Activities will include the launch of a NaviLens wayfinding tour for visitors who are blind or low vision, ASL-interpreted nature walks, a speaker presentation, community partner booths, sensory-friendly resources, and family-friendly activities. The Visitor Center and surrounding trails are wheelchair accessible. Sensory kits and a restorative space will also be available. Parking at the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center is free. Space is first come, first served. Bring water, use sunscreen, and wear closed-toed shoes to enjoy all the estuary has to offer.
