“The Garners” is a modern vintage duo/trio that embraces gypsy jazz, 1920’s and 30’s jazz, blues, and folk. They are writers of music as well, and you will find that the inspiration behind their originals comes from these classic eras/genres. Raggedly sophisticated, The Garner’s mysterious sweetness will entrance even the most immovable listener. With Lorelei on Tenor Ukulele, Jon on Gypsy Guitar, and both singing from the deep wells of our booming hearts, our music will transport you back when times were harder, yet the good times, more colorful, vibrant, and bold. She’s a little bit country, he’s a little bit rock ‘n’ roll… well, sort of. Lorelei, vocals and ukulele, is a classically trained vocalist that has fallen in love with swing jazz and Americana. Jon, vocals and guitar, is a certified jazz nerd having fallen in love with Billie Holiday, Lester Young, and Charlie Christian at the age of 16. He also has a soft spot for roots music, especially Sonny Terry and Brownie Mcghee. They decided to make it easier to split the check and got married in October, 2015. Their whole life is music. LaJuné is a Multidisciplinary Artist, and Educator creating art that integrates performance, extended reality, and physical computing to question our contemporary forms of communication. They are passionate about discovering, learning, manifesting, and stewarding spaces for liberated Black Realities and the Black Imagination. LaJuné has had the opportunity to show and speak about their work at National Sawdust, Tribeca Film Festival, Times Square, and Art & Code's Weird Reality. LaJuné was previously the Director of Skating at Figure Skating in Harlem, where they integrated STEAM and Figure Skating to teach girls of color about movement and technology. They have continued their research on Blackness, movement, and technology during residencies and fellowships at the Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship, Eyebeam, Pioneer Works, NYU ITP, Barbarian Group, and Barnard College. About Danny Guiterrez Daniel Zermeño Gutiérrez is a vocalist and pianist, composer and poet. Drawing from his diverse musical background in jazz & blues, bossa nova, boleros, and Bach, Daniel has been cultivating and refining his voice as an independent artist through years of study and practice. Daniel is trilingual, speaking English, Spanish, & Portuguese; over the years he has had the pleasure of studying with such artists as Becca Stevens, Jazzmeia Horn, Jane Monheit, Jacob Mann, Ramrio Gallo, and Bobby McFerrin. In 2022 Daniel visited Curitiba, Brazil to study Portuguese & Poetry with Pf. Pedro Souza and immerse himself in the country’s rich oral and musical tradition. Upon his return, Daniel channeled this newfound knowledge by serving as a vocalist, pianist, composer, arranger, & musical director for a variety of bossa-infused folk projects. The STRAY CATS, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early '80s, scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950’s style brought “up to date” with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos and as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly's original heyday. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer, upright bass player Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom in the Long Island town of Massapequa, NY, in 1979, the trio shared a love for Rockabilly music. After banging around New York for a few months in the summer of 1980, and seeing a pompadoured kid on the cover of UK magazine NME, they hopped a plane to London where a rockabilly revival movement was just beginning to emerge. Their massive hits and videos include “Runaway Boys," "Rock This Town," "Stray Cat Strut” "(She's) Sexy + 17" and "I Won't Stand in Your Way." Caleb Williams was taken No. 1 by the Chicago Bears in Thursday's NFL Draft. Williams, who played quarterback at Southern California and Oklahoma, faced challenges at a young age.

Brahms’s only violin concerto – and one of the very greatest examples of this form in the history of music – is here performed by the SDSO and Rafael Payare with the celebrated Armenian violinist Sergey Khachatryan. Following Beethoven’s lofty example, Brahms wrote a piece that simultaneously makes massive demands upon a top virtuoso soloist, while at the same time having the depth, beauty, scale and orchestral muscularity of a great symphony. Rafael Payare is world-renowned for his interpretations of Brahms’ symphonies, and this performance will surely bring out the most remarkable qualities of his music. Payare is also a passionate champion of the music of Arnold Schoenberg, and serves on the Artistic Honorary Committee of Schönberg 150, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth. Schoenberg began his long creative life in Vienna in the high romantic age of Brahms, Richard Strauss and Gustav Mahler, and ended it in Los Angeles as an American citizen in 1951, at one of the high points of 20th century modernism. Schoenberg’s gorgeously scored and richly melodic tone-poem, based on the tragic love-story of Pelléas et Mélisande, which also inspired great music from Fauré, Debussy and Sibelius, is one of his most beautiful orchestral scores, written in a style somewhere between Brahms and Wagner but with a rich and dark orchestral coloring that is all Schoenberg’s own.
