At 8 a.m. On Sept. 17, 2023 we will be Running and Walking a 4.5 mile course through our beautiful community of Ocean Beach! Immediately following the run/walk we will host a Mental Health Fair in the parking lot of Newport ave and Abbott street! Our festival consists of performances, Motivational Speakers, Mental Health Resource Booths, Art, An Interactive Flower Wall for Photos, An Obstacle Course on the beach, CPR First Aid Training, Massage Booths, Great Food and Much Much More! The You Are Not Alone campaign aims to become a platform that supports those traumatized by the deaths of loved ones and also those who are currently suffering from anxieties, depression or self harming thoughts! We want you to know that you MATTER and that You Are Not Alone! We are all in this TOGETHER! Our intentions are to unite Ocean Beach and the surrounding areas, in this campaign highlighting Mental Heath and Suicide Prevention. Our route starts on Newport and Bacon. Going East on Newport we will be closing all streets leading up to Sunset Cliffs Blvd! We will make a right on Sunset and run/walk all the way to the end of Sunset cliffs! We look forward to a great run/walk with all of you as our route will be filled with love, light, art, music and of course an amazing view of the Pacific ocean! At the end of Sunset cliffs we will do a roundabout and head back to Newport where we will have our Mental Health Celebration! More than 60 museums and cultural institutions will participate in the 35th annual Museum Month from Feb. 1 to Feb. 29. The event offers half-off admission to visitors at participating locations. New Museum Month locations for 2024 include LEGOLAND® California Resort and its SEA LIFE® Aquarium, the California Wolf Center, the Deer Park Winery & Auto Museum and WNDR Museum San Diego. Also new this year, Museum Month will be recognized as an official event of the World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024. The design capital is a designation won together by the two cities for achievements in design that brings with it a yearlong showcase of civic and cultural events. Vanguard Culture presents the ENVZN23: Urban Art Takeover, a visual and performing arts festival that will transform numerous warehouses, industrial spaces, and other urban areas of the Commercial Street corridor in Logan Heights. Two full city blocks will be activated with multi-sensory art interventions by creatives from both sides of the U.S./Mexico border on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. Visitors will experience live dance, puppetry, and theatre performances on warehouse loading docks, a fashion show by Fashion Week San Diego in an industrial storage lot, art installations with curated soundscapes by Tijuana-based multimedia artist MALU, a short film festival inside a crossfit gym, delicious food and drink by local vendors, dance performances along the trolley line and much more. ENVZN23 will respond to the urban landscape by integrating curated sound and theatrical lighting design throughout.
