Bring the whole family and celebrate the season with mural-painting in Balboa Park! This activity is once again taking place outside in our museum's front plaza. The Timken Museum of Art will provide two large canvases and a variety of paint supplies for all park visitors to come and paint together on a large collaborative mural. The museum provides all the supplies. Our museum's mission is to celebrate the important role of art as a way of enriching lives and nurturing the creative spirit in us all. ArtHatch and Distinction Gallery are thrilled to announce a new solo exhibition “Enchanted Lands” of artist Virginie Mazureau. Virginie is an artist originally from France and who now resides in Carlsbad. The exhibition will feature Virginie's newest whimsical mixed media paintings. The opening reception with the artist will be held on Saturday, February 12 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Distinction Art Gallery. Tap-dancer Claudia Gomez , double-bassist Evona Wascinski, and classical guitarist/vocalist Lorraine Theresa Hussey formed the trio in August 2011. The merging of talents and influences from each of these women results in a fresh and intense sound that maintains its roots in the romantic music of the old-world Mediterranean, Latin American, and Jazz traditions.
