Many of these youth become self-sufficient as a result. Our Homeless Youth Advocacy program develops trust very quickly with youth. Once trust is established, homeless youth ask for help. We help the most vulnerable youth, the transitional age youth (TAY) ages 17 to 25. Most are homeless because they come from such dysfunctional families, it is safer to live on the streets or if they are LGBTQ+ and come out, their parents kick them out of their home. Since COVID-19, we have broken records for the past 3 years in placing youth in safe housing. In 2022 we shattered the record by 188 youth, placing 349 youth in safe housing in San Diego. 100% of your tickets sales will go to help homeless youth because our amazing corporate Angels have underwritten all the costs of the concert. San Diego New Music celebrates San Diego's young and emerging composers with a concert of newly-composed works by composers selected through the 2023 Emerging Composers Commission Competition. Cups, windows and bottles are the familiar presence of glass in our lives. Yet, glass is so much more. Curated by Barrio Glassworks owner Mary Devlin, Breaking Glass Boundaries captures the magic of glassblowing and sculpture, offering a fusion where complex material is reimagined as swimming sea creatures, teardrops and even dramatic sentries. Experience this vivid expression of versatility, creativity, intricacy and the beauty of glass in many new and unexpected forms. Barrio Glassworks, founded in 2020, is a public glassblowing studio and retail gallery located in the historic Barrio community of the Carlsbad Village at 3060 Roosevelt Street. Stop by for a unique experience with an open viewing section for the public, allowing an up-close look at the mesmerizing art of glassblowing. "Art of West" highlights paintings and sculpture held in private collections by San Diego County based art collectors. Live sculpting takes place during the exhibition with artist Mehl Lawson, a member of the Cowboy Artists of America. "Art of the West" exhibitions and auction opens Sat. July 8 with a gala reception, Western barbeque and auction at the Bonita Museum & Cultural Center located in San Diego, California. The exhibition, which runs from July 8 through August 2023, is curated by local Western art collectors such as Mehl Lawson, Mark Fehlman and features artworks from San Diego County collectors. Artists in the exhibition include Roy Anderson, Joe Bohler, Tom Browning, Marcia Burtt, Bruce Green, Ralph Love, Harry Jackson, Calvin Liang, Michael Malm, John Moyers, Terry Moyers, Bill Owen, Bob Pummill, Jim Reynolds, Jason Rich, Ray Roberts,Bob “Shoofly” Shufelt, Eric Sloan and Olaf Weighorst. Live and silent auctions will feature art works by local artists and sculpture by Mehl Lawson.
