Located above the Flower Fields, ArtWalk Carlsbad is back for its 5th year, bringing fine art, live music, and interactive art experiences, offered free to attendees. The weekend-long festival focuses on fine art for sale by artists, who travel from all over the U.S. and Mexico to show and sell their work. In a venue overlooking the ocean, guests can explore different facets of art, while enjoying beautiful coastal views. The festival will display every medium of art, including painting, sculpture, glass work, fine jewelry, photography and more. More than 150 fine artists’ work will be featured, along with interactive art for families at KidsWalk, a full palette of musical performers, food trucks and stands, and more. The event will be fenced, even though admission is free. The fence allows attendees to enjoy beer and wine (to those 21-years and over), while strolling around the event, rather than having to remain in a Beer Garden. Members of the Kumeyaay community of San José de la Zorra in Baja California are seeking to preserve their language for future generations.

November 16, from 9-11:30 a.m. In this workshop, students will learn about the origins of Kintsugi, the Japanese ‘art of golden repair,’ and its meaning as it relates to one’s own life. Instructor Luis Santiago explains, “In these uncertain and crazy times, I believe people can find some solace and comfort in realizing that their so called 'scars' and imperfections are things that do not need to be hidden or ashamed of.” While the traditional craft of Kintsugi can take multiple months to complete, mastery in application, and involves toxic lacquer, the techniques used in this workshop to repair two ceramic pieces and embellish these pieces in two distinct Kintsugi-inspired ways brings it to a much wider audience and allows for completion in one workshop. All materials are included. Students will learn two distinct ways of highlighting the breaks of their provided ceramic pieces and will take home a unique piece. "Their Wall, Our Canvas" exhibits nearly fifty multimedia pieces by San Diego artists-activists Antonia Davis (b.1955), Bob Davis (b.1952), and Natalia Ventura (b.1998). Antonia is a founding member of the San Diego Puppet Insurgency, and has led art builds with dozens of local social and environmental justice groups over the last twenty years. Bob has been a lifelong supporter and photo documentarian of local struggles. Natalia, an emerging artist-activist from Chula Vista, met the couple in 2023 while leading art intervention projects to save Friendship Park. Since then the three have formed a bond rooted in their shared passions for art and activism. Several of the works on view are products of their collaboration. Spanning across textile, installation, photography, performance, painting, and video, the works in this exhibition aim to deconstruct harmful narratives and replace them with stories and images that heal. These artists contribute to the Collective by helping us imagine a different reality, painting the picture of what liberation looks like, and making the revolution irresistible.
