  • In honor of Veteran’s Day, Helmand Valley Growers Company (HVGC) will be joining forces with El Blunto in a special pop-up at Torrey Holistics to benefit the Battle Brothers Foundation.   • The 32nd Annual San Diego International Jewish Film Festival (SDIJFF) runs over 12 days, from Feb. 9-20, 2022. The SDIJFF showcases a selection of the best contemporary Jewish films and TV series. Twenty-five feature films, eight short films and three TV series will be screened, beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Film enthusiasts can view these screenings in-person at the David & Dorothea Garfield Theatre and/or watch from the comfort of their home. Virtual film screenings are on demand beginning on February 10 and will remain available throughout the duration of the festival. Free screenings will be held as part of Preview Day on February 9 at the David & Dorothea Garfield Theatre, with “Ask Dr. Ruth” at 1:30 p.m. and “Mighty Ira” at 4:30 p.m. The Underwriter-exclusive screening of “The Conductor” will be at 7:30 p.m. This festival is known to be one of the most prestigious Jewish film festivals in the country.   • The ho-ho-holidays are fast approaching and The Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa is preparing to transport adults and children alike to a winter wonderland. The family-friendly resort is hosting Fireside Stories with the one and only Santa Claus for two nights only. Santa will be taking a break from checking his lists in the North Pole to read holiday tales to the littles who can listen in while enjoying candy canes, fireside roasted s’mores, and hot cocoa. There will also be a letter-writing station where one can write a wish list to share with Santa. Parents can enjoy the festive fun and toast to the season with homemade boozy marshmallows for adult s’mores and spiked hot cocoa. To complete the festivities, local carolers from the Carlsbad High School choir will sing holiday classics.
