At the heart of the show is a student-written wind ensemble piece titled "The Years In Between."   • On view now! Front Porch Gallery, in collaboration with Surfing Madonna Oceans Project, announces the fourth annual “Save the Ocean” art and poetry exhibition. This exhibit features a diverse array of mediums that explore our relationship to the ocean, and environmental stewardship. The exhibition will be on display through Feb. 29, 2024.   • The Library's Autumn Concert Series takes place on Fridays from September 6 to October 25. Each concert will begin at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the performance. Our first performance of the series features the Camarada Tango Quartet, live before their second tour in Argentina. The mission of CAMARADA is to elevate and enrich the San Diego community and beyond by presenting phenomenal chamber music concerts, while engaging diverse audiences through visionary and educational programming, featuring living composers, commissioning new music, and igniting a powerful connection between the audience, artists and music. Camarada is dedicated to presenting invigorating performances of musical masterworks. Established in 1994, Camarada shares the joy of chamber music by pairing performers of the highest caliber with intimate spaces throughout San Diego. Original founders Beth Ross Buckley, Ann Chase, and Mary Barranger had a vision of concert experiences that are inviting and engaging for audiences. In 2008 Dana Burnett joined Beth Ross Buckley as Co-Artistic Director continuing this tradition. Both have significant chamber music experience and bring to Camarada a renewed zest for playing intimate chamber music, collaborating with a variety of artists, commissioning music by American composers, and recording new projects.   • Pup-A-Palooza Event Saturday, March 9 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. John Landes Community Center & Park: 2855 Cedar Rd., Oceanside Come join the fun at the Pup-A-Palooza, an education and resources event for pets and their families!   • The Murray Family is finally organizing, planning, coordinating and executing a long awaited celebration and appreciation gospel musical program for our Mom. In 2017, a proclamation made by the previously standing San Diego City Council President Myrtle Cole that on “October 13th is Ann Murray Day” indefinitely in “America’s Finest City of San Diego, California”. She organized, led and emceed numerous gospel programs/concert events, and introduced high-profile quartet gospel groups, choirs, praise teams and single artists to the San Diego local community, California State and nationwide highly notable gospel venues. She was also the first premier African American female gospel radio DJ in the 60s, 70s and 80s in San Diego, and was deemed “The Queen Of Gospel Radio” in The City of San Diego, California. She was also the founder and originator of the Gospel Music Day held at the San Diego Del Mar Fair every summer for years also introducing numerous groups and solo artists that is still being featured to this very day. For years Ms. Murray personally provided community outreach providing food and Easter baskets for numerous low-income families that were in dire need in the immediate San Diego area. Please participate in honoring of our mother who has given so much of herself to the city of San Diego, Los Angeles, the Golden State of California and the National Quartet Singing Alliance of America, Inc.   • 'Distorted Thoughts' is a solo exhibition by Muse, exploring the human psyche and its intricacies in an attempt to understand and accept ourselves and ultimately, humanity. Muse communicates through various mediums such as photography, embroidery, performance art, interactive installation, and clothing. This body of work explores the human psyche through the use of symbolism in fashion, photography, and performance art. It aims to guide and invite the viewer to delve into their own emotional state. In doing so, the viewer is able to confront the spectrum of self. About the artist Muse is a Mexican American multidisciplinary artist who specializes in fashion and storytelling. The sewing machine is Muse’s paintbrush, and clothing is her canvas. With an extensive background in both subconscious and conscious exploration, as well as intensive philosophical and psychological study, Muse has developed a method to invoke visceral truly unique and powerful artistic vision. Through her work, Muse creates a transformative space that encourages the viewer to explore their inner worlds and embark on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance.
