The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality Friday closed the Coronado shoreline as a result of runoff from the Tijuana River reaching the city's beaches.

More snow and rain is in the forecast Friday for parts of San Diego County and a winter weather advisory is in effect for the mountain areas. But, the weekend is expected to be dry.

Rep. Juan Vargas, D-San Diego, Thursday joined Democratic lawmakers to reintroduce the Neighbors Not Enemies Act, intended to repeal a nearly 230-year-old law targeting immigrants.

San Diego Unified School District will increase the number of Transitional Kindergarten classrooms around the district by 10% and reduce class sizes from 24 to 20.

Schools in the Spencer Valley School District closed at noon Thursday due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions.

Those who violate the policy will be ejected "and may face additional sanctions," the club said.

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
