A wind advisory has been issued for parts of San Diego County from noon Saturday until 6 p.m. Monday.

"It also brings us closer to achieving regional climate goals and a zero-emissions bus fleet by 2040," said Nathan Fletcher, MTS board chair and chair of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.

A man died while in custody at the San Diego Central Jail, law enforcement said Friday.

Todd Gloria's "Ready to Rebuild" budget proposes to fund the San Diego Police Department with $584 million to support personnel, equipment and facilities and includes an additional $5.5 million for overtime.

The budget would add more than 1,000 staff across stated "priority areas," and maintain essential public safety, land use, health and social services, a county statement read.

Mayor Todd Gloria and City Council President Sean Elo-Rivera Wednesday announced an update to San Diego's climate action initiative.

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
