The city of San Diego and the San Diego Housing Commission have been awarded $8.3 million from the federal government to support the COVID-19 Housing Stability Assistance Program.

Thomas Apollo, 44, allegedly punched a medical assistant five times and another one twice after he was told to leave the clinic for not wearing a mask, prosecutors said.

During a preliminary search of the car, the deputies allegedly found a metal military-style ammunition can containing two large plastic bags labeled "Ammonium Nitrate" and "Potassium Nitrate."

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
