High temperatures could jump into the triple digits in the San Diego County mountain communities Wednesday as a heat wave moves into the region heading into the weekend.

A San Diego County sheriff's deputy arrested on suspicion of molesting three minors was slated to be arraigned Wednesday.

San Diego County public health officials reported 498 new COVID-19 cases and 14 additional deaths, raising the region's totals to 28,005 cases and 547 deaths.

The San Diego City Council voted 5-4 Tuesday to extend the rent repayment period for commercial and residential renters to Dec. 30, giving renters who have lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic a few extra months to repay back rent.'
