Public Matters EditorClaire leads the KPBS Public Matters initiative, a content hub that will provide news stories on politics and governance; facilitated, in-person discussions around important issues that often divide us; and helpful resources and explainers to ensure all San Diegans understand and act upon their opportunity to participate in the democratic process. Claire leads the KPBS initiative and its partnerships with news organizations Voice of San Diego and inewsource.
Her journalistic highlights include producing the six-part podcast series Free Jane, leading and editing the Murrow award-winning public art series Art in the Open and the digital video series about the childcare crisis, Where's My Village.
In 2020, Claire was named the San Diego Society of Professional Journalists' Journalist of the Year. Claire studied chemistry at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. She then earned a master's degree in journalism at UC Berkeley, where she worked at the Knight Digital Media Center and completed a master's project with Michael Pollan.
