Spreading Awareness on Elder Abuse

Ahaana’s mission is to spread awareness of issues that plague our community and culture. To that end, we are bringing a series of virtual presentations in partnership with SD District Attorney’s office. October’s subject was drug abuse specifically the fentanyl epidemic. It was presented by an agent of the DEA and was an eye-opening one.

The presentation on November 3 is about Elder Abuse (Please read this article). DA Scott Pirrello is on the Elder Abuse task force and he will be presenting. We sincerely urge you to attend to be aware and be able to recognize the symptoms and possibly help in situations like this. There are many ways elders are abused, least of which is physical, and primarily it is neglect of various kinds. Learn more and be self aware!
