“UGETSU” (Tales of Moonlight and Rain) 1953. 94 minutes — Kengi Mizoguchi crafts an eerie netherworld for his exquisite supernatural fable about the folly of men and the women who suffer. The delirious narrative concerns two villagers whose pursuit of fame and fortune leads them far astray from their loyal wives. (In Japanese w/ English subtitles).
FILM FORUM CORONADO is held in the Winn Room at the Coronado Public Library on the First and Third Wednesdays of each month at 6 p.m., with a brief introduction before the film and a discussion afterward, led by Ralph DeLauro. This program is presented by the Coronado Public Library and the Coronado Island Film Festival.
