“THE STRANGER” (1946. 95 minutes. Not Rated) —Orson Welles spins a web of intrigue and deceit in this baroque chiller. A government agent (Edward G. Robinson) tracks a fugitive war criminal (Welles) crafting a new identity in a quaint Connecticut town with his unsuspecting wife (Loretta Young).
