“THE TRIAL”(1962. 118 minutes) — Glittering with a surreal sheen, Orson Welles directed this nightmarish version of Kafka’s apocalyptic novel. An ineffectual bank clerk (Anthony Perkins) is trapped in the absurdist mechanisms of an unforgiving bureaucracy. Co-stars Welles and Jeanne Moreau. (60th Anniversary).
