To conclude its 40th Anniversary season, the San Diego Early Music is proud to present Tiburtina Ensemble. Tiburtina specializes in plainchant and medieval polyphony, as well as contemporary music. For their San Diego debut, Tiburtina—whose members include San Diego favorite soprano Hana Blažíková—will devote an entire program to Hildegard of Bingen (c. 1098-1179)—the Benedictine abbess, preacher, philosopher, physician, composer, and mystic who arguably ranks as the first “Great Composer.”

“The Czech group stands out for the luminosity…and brilliance of their tone, where the individuals shine as much in the unisons as in the solo passages” (Crescendo)
