Rey’s love of the blues began with the jukebox in his grandmother’s El Centro Cantina. His affliction for the blues has expanded from jazz to murder ballads. He carries a torch and passion for those things that are slowly disappearing in our American culture. These changes are characterized in his composition, “The Old Fashioned Future.” His songs dangerously tight rope honky tonk, border town barrel house country blues and at times unpredictable rock & roll with a southern swamp. He comes to us fresh from his performance at the New Orleans Museum of Jazz.

The Encinitas Library has been operating on the current site since 1959, with the Friends of the Library starting at the suggestion of Elena Countryman in 1980. The award winning new library building opened in February 2008. The mission of the Friends of the Encinitas Library is to support the Encinitas Library as it strives to encourage literacy, lifelong learning, and the love of reading throughout our diverse community, as well as to enhance the library's resources, increase the community's access to information and knowledge, and provide for a vibrant cultural gathering place. The Encinitas Library is part of the San Diego County Library System and receives additional support from the City of Encinitas. Directions From I-5, exit on Encinitas Blvd. and go west. Turn left on Vulcan Ave. Turn left on D Street and proceed one block. The library is on the right.
