Vox Luminis: 'The Early Bach Cantatas'

The San Diego Early Music Society is thrilled to welcome back the Belgium-based ensemble Vox Luminis, under the direction of Lionel Meunier, after their sensational San Diego debut in 2019. The ensemble will present a program of four early Bach cantatas: Actus tragicus (BWV 106), Aus der Tiefen rufe ich, Herr, zu dir (BWV 131), Ach Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich (BWV150), and Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen (BWV 12). Specializing in German, Italian, and English repertoire from the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, the group is known for their exquisite and rigorous approach to this repertoire that has made their name “enough in itself to spark a tingle of anticipation” on album releases (Gramophone).
