After-School Banana Snack-Making Clinic

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego is partnering with Dole Food Company’s Port of San Diego office for an April 17 healthy-eating rally honoring National Banana Day, an annual holiday celebrating the nutrition, taste, convenience and “a-peel” of America’s most-purchased produce and one of the most popular items in the supermarket.

Bobby Banana, Dole’s 7-foot mascot, will lead kids at the BGCGSD Bob Payne Family Branch in National City in a banana trivia contest and healthy snack-making session – they will make banana wraps! – before taking “banana selfies.”
 
The collaboration reflects both organizations’ ongoing commitment to healthy eating and living: the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego’s Healthy Lifestyles priority outcome program; and Dole Food Company’s long history of providing fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy recipes and bnutrition programs and education.
