From Buxtehude to Bach: Kathryn Cok on Harpsichord

San Diego Early Music Society will host Dutch American harpsichordist Kathryn Cok in a solo concert on October 27 that will highlight the connections between composers Dietrich Buxtehude and Johann Sebastian Bach. Kathryn Cok will open the San Diego Early Music Society’s 2024-2025 season of concerts as part of the Solo Series. Her concert will take place at St. Paul’s Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. Additional information and tickets are available on the Society’s website.

Kathryn Cok is an internationally recognized soloist and basso continuo player, and is an accomplished harpsichordist, fortepianist and academic. She currently teaches at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague, where she also sits as the Head of Master Research. As part of her visit to San Diego, Dr. Cok will be give a masterclass to keyboard students at SDSU and UCSD in collaboration with professors Tina Chong (SDSU) and Takae Ohnishi (UCSD).

San Diego Early Music Society was founded in 1981 to showcase music of medieval, Baroque and Renaissance periods. Every year, the Society brings in talent from across the globe to perform on period instruments in venues around the San Diego community.
