This course will help aspiring memoirists differentiate between vulnerability and exposition. We’ll learn what the difference between the two are and what makes an author’s memoir resonate with its readers. Excerpts from a variety of memoirs will be examined and time will be allotted for students to explore which topics they’d like to write about, why they want to write about them, and how memoir differentiates from journal writing.
This course is for those looking to expand their understanding of memoir writing, or those looking for a place to start.
