Join us for a hands-on morning of reflection, storytelling, and creative making in celebration of the Centennial of The San Diego Museum of Art. Inspired by SDMA 100 Years, on view January 24 in Galleries 14/15, this workshop invites participants to explore memory, history, and personal connection through bookmaking.
The workshop will guide you through the creation of a memory scrapbook inspired by the archival scrapbooks that have preserved and documented 100 years of SDMA’s history. Participants will learn basic bookbinding techniques, including how to bind pages, create a cover, and customize a scrapbook designed to hold memories collected throughout the year.
Participants are encouraged to bring photographs or small mementos to incorporate into the cover or title pages of their scrapbook, making each book a personal and meaningful keepsake. All materials will be provided.
Please RSVP to save your spot. Registration is limited to 15 people. Entry to The San Diego Museum of Art Library is near the Panama 66 restaurant entrance.
Registration is limited to 15 people. Workshop held during Resident Free Tuesday, which grants free admission to San Diego County Residents (with ID) on the third Tuesday of every month. Museum admission for nonresidents not included. Artists under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop.
San Diego Museum of Art
As San Diego County's first and largest art institution, the San Diego Museum of Art (SDMA) provides access to original art works of the highest caliber and is thus the community's primary resource for enjoying and learning about art. Whether in conjunction with the Museum's collections or a major travelling exhibition, special guided tours, classes, lectures, concerts and other related programs allow museum visitors to gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of the art on display.
