Join the Center Chorale, Pacific Coast Chorale, Guest Singers and Soloists with Orchestra Tutti of San Diego for a presentation of a symphonic work written for J.R.R Tolkien’s "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy." This exciting score, taken from the Tolkien films, includes 85 instrumentalists, 100 singers, soloists and children’s chorus. The music of "The Lord of the Rings" creates a new and dramatic live concert experience, led by Guest Conductor James Beauton of San Francisco. "The Fellowship of the Ring," composed by Howard Shore, won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2001. The score incorporates unusual percussion instruments, including Japanese taiko drums, metal bell plates and chains beaten upon piano wires to depict the mythical creatures called Orcs. Come join us for the rare opportunity to experience this epic choral symphony, performed in both English and Elvish.
