In 1829, free Black abolitionist living in Boston David Walker published a pamphlet, "Appeal to the Coloured Citizens of the World," that sent shock waves of terror through slaveholding America. It was a direct and radical challenge to slavery in the U.S.
Join Professors Matsemela Odom and Thekima Mayasa of Mesa College and Danny Widener of UCSD for a stimulating discussion of the Appeal, its status as the most radical of all anti-slavery documents, and its international call to arms against enslavement and anti-Blackness. An America 250 event.
