OnStage Playhouse is proud to present"A People’s Cuban Christmas Tale," a play written by Herbert Siguenza, who completely reimagined Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" into an epic Cuban historical drama.

About the play: Ezequiel Scrooge is an American sugar baron caught up in the political upheavals of a country on the verge of revolution, its present and future. This retelling celebrates the Cuban people's desire for socialism and autonomy in the shadow of American economic interests. Lively classic Cuban music scores the tropical Christmas tale of a greedy man who finds personal redemption and a new social consciousness.

The production includes 10 actors and a four-piece Cuban band bringing the traditional sounds of Cuba to this adaptation of a well-known story of Christmas loss and forgiveness.

A People’s Cuban Christmas Tale opens Thursday, December 2 at 8 p.m. The play with be showing Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. from December 2 through December 19.
