Elder Law 101: Our goal in this class is to help the participants better understand the complex and confusing issues that are confronted when dealing with a diagnosis of dementia. Things that will be discussed include:
• What benefits are available to assist with long-term custodial care costs
• How to access those benefits
• Capacity and its impact on existing estate planning documents
June 24: Understanding Alzheimers and Dementia & Estate Planning 101
Estate Planning 101: Our goal in this class is to help the participants better understand the Estate Administration process. Things that will be discussed include:
• What is a fiduciary
• Your rights and responsibilities
• Your obligations to the beneficiary
• How to address and solve administration problems during incapacity
July 15: Building Foundations of Caregiving & Estate Planning 102
Estate Plannong 102: Our goal in this class is to help the participants understand the various estate planning documents. When they are needed and how they are utilized. Things that will be discussed include:
• What is an estate plan
• The difference between a Will and a Trust
• Common mistakes
• Importance of funding and related issues
August 19: Managing Money: A Caregiver's Guide to Finances & Planning for Incapacity and End of Life
Planning for Incapacity and :End of Life Planning: Subjects covered during this program include:
• Communicating your long-term care wishes
• Key provisions in your estate plan
• Care costs and how to pay for it
• Acquiring financial assistance for long-term care
• How to collect and communicate information with other family members
• Duties and responsibilities (Family/Caregiver/Fiduciary)
• Memorializing wishes
• Triggering documents
