Your donation is your admission to our museums. We don’t charge a fixed admission fee but look to your generosity to help make history accessible to all in our community, removing barriers for those who would otherwise not be able to experience our region’s history.
This exhibit celebrates the bold thinkers and barrier-breakers who redefined what’s possible in science, technology, engineering, and medicine. From early pioneers like Dr. Charlotte Baker, San Diego’s first female physician, and visionary horticulturist Kate Sessions, to modern trailblazers including Janese Swanson, founder of Girl Tech, and Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, these stories highlight ingenuity, perseverance, and leadership. Together, their achievements reveal how San Diego women have shaped innovation, expanded opportunity, and opened doors for future generations—locally, nationally, and beyond.
