Devastating droughts, floods, skies of fire, murderous crowds, and a prophet's lone footsteps through a land of uncertainty and self-doubt. Mendelssohn's oratorios certainly skirted the line between opera and sacred music, but his depiction of the prophet Elijah is unique in its epic dramatic power. Music Director and Chorus Conductor Arian Khaefi leads the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus in a performance of Mendelssohn's monumental Elijah.

Mandeville Auditorium UC San Diego
UC San Diego's Mandeville Auditorium is San Diego's leading mid-size performance venue. This 800-seat hall is suitable for a full range of events, from dance, concerts, and theatre, to conferences, lectures, and other special events. The auditorium has hosted performers and events including Wynton Marsalis, Woody Allen, David Sedaris, the Kronos Quartet, Ravi Shankar, and Spike & Mike's Animation Festival. San Diego groups ranging from La Jolla Symphony & Chorus to San Diego Ballet and the UCSD Wind Ensemble as well as the UCSD Gospel Choir also take advantage of the venue. DIRECTIONS: From the North: Take interstate 5 to Genesee Avenue west. After 0.7 miles (3rd light) turn left on North Torrey Pines Road. After 0.9 miles (4th light) turn left on Muir College Drive and proceed to the second parking lot on the right (lot 207). Mandeville is to the south beyond the Sun God sculpture. From the South: Take Interstate 5 to La Jolla Village Drive west. After 1.7 miles (7th light) turn right on Muir College Drive and proceed to the second lot on the right (lot 207). Mandeville is to the south beyond the Sun God sculpture. (Note: after the curve, La Jolla Village Drive becomes North Torrey Pines Road). Parking:Note: From 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday-Friday, UCSD visitors must display a one-day or one-night parking permit or pay $2 an hour if parking in a metered spot (be sure to check posted time limits).
