This month, The New Children’s Museum is teaming up with Nickelodeon to celebrate SpongeBob SquarePants with a special, limited-time Museum takeover filled with art, play, and hands-on fun.
As part of Nickelodeon’s worldwide SpongeBob birthday celebration, we’re transforming the Museum with playful experiences inspired by everyone’s favorite underwater world. From July 11-20, families can explore creative activities, discover surprises throughout the Museum, and experience new ways to think, play, and create together.
Here’s what you’ll discover at NCM:
- Bubble play and interactive experiences
- SpongeBob-inspired artmaking activities
- Slime Time pop-up experiences
- Jellyfish-themed sensory play
- A Museum-wide scavenger hunt
- A special Color of the Day on "Loving Dragon"
- Fun photo opportunities and playful surprises throughout the Museum
Every corner of the Museum will have something new to discover, making this the perfect time to visit and come back for more.
The Nickelodeon Takeover is included with Museum admission and free for Members.
The Fun Doesn’t Stop There
Our partnership with Nickelodeon continues during Comic-Con week with a special activation in the park across the street from The New Children’s Museum. While the Museum will be closed (July 21-26) during Comic-Con weekend, we’re excited to help bring this experience to our community and look forward to sharing more details soon.
The New Children's Museum
The New Children’s Museum celebrated the opening of its new home located in downtown San Diego’s Marina District with a free, community block party on May 4, 2008. The Museum, an environmentally sustainable building designed by architect Rob Wellington Quigley, provides a dynamic, playful public space and community center for children and families—a place to experience exciting art exhibitions, hands-on studio projects, performances, birthday parties, in-depth classes, camps and educational programs. Across the street from the new building is a beautiful park, extending the museum visit outdoors with space for running, climbing, family picnics and a view of the trains and trolley going by. Located at 200 West Island Avenue, the Museum faces Harbor Drive and is well-positioned near the MTS Convention Center Trolley stop, Seaport Village and the Gaslamp Quarter, making it easily reachable to residents and visitors throughout the region. Members Only Time: Sundays from 9:30-11 a.m.Admission Pricing Adults and children over 1: $14 Seniors (65+): $10 Military: $10 Children under 1: FREE Members: FREE
