Beginning September 29, 2026, the "Remember Us The Holocaust Exhibit" will be on display at the San Diego Central Library, where truth in history comes alive through the voices, stories, and artifacts of those who lived it.
Created by Sandra Scheller, daughter of Holocaust survivors Ruth and Kurt Sax, the exhibition presents the history of the Holocaust through survivor testimony, photographs, historical documents, artifacts, World War II memorabilia, and deeply personal stories. The exhibit also shares the experiences of Holocaust survivors who rebuilt their lives in San Diego and throughout Southern California.
This unique Southern California exhibition brings together Holocaust and World War II artifacts and memorabilia with the documented history of the Holocaust. Through historical evidence and the personal experiences of survivors, the exhibit seeks to educate, inspire reflection, preserve memory, and ensure that these important stories are carried forward for future generations.
The exhibition also features the ceramic artwork of Holocaust survivor Maria Coleman, whose work adds a deeply personal artistic expression of memory, survival, and resilience.
Schools, community groups, organizations, and individuals are invited to visit the exhibit during regular library hours. Docent-led tours are available for schools and groups. To schedule a docent-led tour, contact admin@rememberustheholocaust.org or call 619-728-RUTH.
"The Remember Us The Holocaust Exhibit" will remain on display at the San Diego Central Library through September 2028.
Without RUTH, there is no TRUTH in history.
