'Yo Soy Mariachero'

Villa Musica, San Diego's Community Music Center announces that "Yo Soy Mariachero," a documentary by Steven Wade Adams featuring members of the Villa Musica Logan Heights Mariachi Ensemble, has been accepted into the San Diego International Film Festival (Oct 13-18).

The short film showcases the love of Mariachi and of family between three generations performing together - Rosalio, Veri, and Lucía. Rosalio, the grandfather passed away earlier this month surrounded by his family.

This film is a beautiful testament to the love they shared for each other - and for Mariachi.

Screenings take place at the AMC 14 UTC La Jolla on Thursday, October 15 at 12:45 p.m. and Sunday October 18 at 6:45 p.m.

"YO SOY MARIACHERO" is an intimate documentary portrait of Rosalío Chavarín and his journey to keep the music of Mariachi alive in himself and his family. Through the lens of family memory the film explores the weight of immigration and the "beautiful things of life" that remain when the dust settles.
