San Diego Catholic Diocese Files for Bankruptcy

The San Diego Catholic Diocese files for chapter 11 bankruptcy amidst allegations of sexual abuse by local priests. What will bankruptcy mean for the diocese and the alleged victims?

San Diego Catholic Diocese Files for Bankruptcy

Tom Fudge:  Yesterday, the San Diego Catholic Diocese became the biggest diocese in the country to file for bankruptcy. Bishop Robert Brom made the decision after settlement talks broke down with plaintiffs, suing the church for sexual abuse by priests. The filing will put a temporary hold the lawsuits. And it gives the bankruptcy court a fair amount to say about how the priest abuses cases will be handled.
