More than 12,000 fitness industry professionals are in San Diego today. They're here to see latest in the world of fitness and flex their entrepreneurial muscle. KPBS Radio's David Nogueras has more.
The San Diego Convention Center looks like it's been transformed into the world's biggest fitness club. But look beyond the spandex and you'll see businessmen who want to bulk up on sales.
As a club owner ask yourself, "Am I really, really driving my business though world-class group fitness programming?"
And fitness is a big business.
Rosemary Lavery is with the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association . She says the industry brought in more than 18 billion dollars in the U.S. last year.
Lavery: Our industry has become very sophisticated in terms of giving each member what they want and keeping them at the club.
Lavery says many of the products at this year's show target new markets for aging baby boomers and school-aged kids.
For KPBS News, I'm David Nogueras.
