Former Democratic Assemblywoman Hannah-Beth Jackson leads former Assembly member, Republican Tony Strickland. They are vying for the state Senate seat held by termed out Republican Tom McClintock.

In Northern California, Democraft Joan Buchanan leads Republican Abram Wilson for the Assembly seat now held by Republican Guy Houston.

And in Southern California, Democrat Marty Block, the president of the San Diego Community College board, leads his Republican opponent, Chula Vista City Councilman John McCann. They are seeking the Assembly seat being given up by Republican Assemblywoman Shirley Horton, who is also termed out this year.
