Children's Hospitals throughout California will get an influx of cash next year, thanks to the passage of Prop 3. Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego will be eligible for 98 million dollars. KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg has more.
Facilities can use the money for a variety of needs, including building upgrades and new equipment.
Barbara Ryan is a vice president with Rady Children's Hospital. She says her hospital is in the midst of an expansion project.
Barbara Ryan: There's approximately a 500-million dollar need here. So that 98 million is very much appreciated and will come in very handy.
Prop 3 passed by a nearly ten point margin. It authorizes California to sell 980 million dollars in bonds for Children's Hospitals statewide.
Voters approved a smaller bond measure for Children's Hospitals four years ago.
