Morgan Hill police say they haven't received any calls for service after an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.4 hit outside Morgan Hill.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit at 10:40 a.m. Monday about eleven miles north of Morgan Hill, or about 16 miles southeast of San Jose.
A dispatcher with the Morgan Hill Police Department described the quake as "short, but strong."
