A Virginia news channel cameraman and reporter were killed by a gunman Wednesday morning while broadcasting live at a waterfront shopping center about an hour southeast of Roanoke, Virginia.
Law enforcement officials are on the scene and looking for the suspect.
Reporter Alison Parker and photojournalist Adam Ward were doing a live report from Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia, according to the station affiliate.
As WDBJ 7 reports:
"This happened during a live broadcast around 6:45 a.m. Police are looking for a suspect who apparently opened fire on WDBJ7 photographer Adam Ward and WDBJ7 reporter Alison Parker. Adam was 27-years old. Alison just turned 24. Both were from WDBJ7 viewing area."
In the video posted online is a picture of the dock and an empty parking lot with trees and water in the background. The camera pans to Parker in the middle of an interview.
Suddenly the sounds of gunshots ring out. Parker can be heard screaming.
The final image in the video shows the camera fall down and the feet of the presumed gunman can be seen walking out of the frame.
The lead investigative agency is Franklin County Sheriff's office. The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are both sending personnel from Roanoke.
