Cinema Junkie Podcast is back from a holiday break with a three-part show all about the Oscars.

First, Frank Montaño, an Oscar nominee this year for Best Sound Mixing for "The Revenant," talks about keeping it real on Alejandro G. Iñárritu's survivalist film. Plus, he helps clarify the difference between sound editing and sound mixing so you'll have a better shot at winning that office Oscar pool.

Then Once Upon a Screen blogger Aurora Bugallo, known to her Twitter followers as CitizenScreen, talks about the upcoming 31 Days of Oscar Blogathon that she has done for the past three years with #TCMParty founder Paula Guthat and Outspoken and Freckled blogger Kellee Pratt. The blogathon is in conjunction with TCM's Oscar programming in February.

Finally, Moviewallas podcaster Yazdi Pithavala and I talk with Midday Host Maureen Cavannaugh about what Oscar got right and wrong with this year's nominations.

The 88th annual Academy Awards take place Feb. 28. The ABC telecast begins at 4 p.m.

Here's a story about the sound work on "The Revenant." Montaño was nominated along with Jon Taylor, Randy Thom and Chris Duesterdiek for this year's Best Sound Mixing Oscar.

More on sound mixing vs. sound editing as well as what a sound designer does from UCSD grad Martin Lopez.

And thanks for your patience while I was out for the holidays.
