San Diego researchers working to cure Ebola
San Diego scientists are working on a cure for the deadly Ebola virus. Although it is extremely rare in developed countries, outbreaks are a major issue in Africa. An outbreak in 2013 killed roughly 11,000 people. Now, there is a new risk of history repeating itself. According to the World Health Organization, the virus has killed more than 1,000 people in and around Congo in less than a year — and that number is rising rapidly.

The future of the Board of Supervisors
Republican Kristin Gaspar announced she will be seeking a second term for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors District 3 seat. This comes months after voters seated Nathan Fletcher, one of the few Democrats to sit on the board in decades. Republican Supervisors Greg Cox and Dianne Jacob will term out in 2020, which leaves more room for change. Is this a sign of a shifting future for the county?
