The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped to its lowest amount since May 8 today, decreasing 1.6 cents to $3.946.
The average price has decreased for 17 consecutive days and is 6.3 cents less than one week ago and 7.4 cents lower than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. However, it is seven-tenths of a cent more than one year ago.
The average price has dropped 13.4 cents over the past 17 days, including 1.1 cents on Wednesday.
"Local wholesale prices have dropped by more than 40 cents since mid-July, so there is continued downward pressure on prices at the pump,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
