The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Monday for the seventh consecutive day, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.10.
The average price is 5.3 cents less than one week ago but seven-tenths of a cent more than one month ago and 4.7 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price rose 11 times in the 15 days immediately preceding the start of dropping prices, pushing the average price to its highest amount since May 19.
The dropping pump prices are the result of a sharp decrease in the wholesale price, indicating a sufficient supply, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
