An environmental conference at the University of San Diego is exploring all things green, from sustainable building to climate change. If you're looking for work, the developing green economy may provide that opportunity.

The "Bright Green Future" conference kicked off Friday at the University of San Diego.

The two-day event features sessions on how to green your business, green job training and transportation among other topics.

Carolyn Chase is one of the organizers of the conference.

Chase says in light of Friday's disappointing unemployment numbers, a session on green job training at local colleges is especially timely.

"The green future requires something in every sector," said Chase. "It's an opportunity to build businesses, create jobs, have a cleaner, leaner, greener economy. Which is really the message from the election was 'do more with less."'

She said Saturday's sessions will include the green job training available at San Diego colleges and where to find free money to help green your home.

"We have a whole track on where to go to get green job training, we have entrepreneurial sessions, how to start small green businesses and what makes a green business," said Chase.

Chase said five San Diego-area colleges will be talking about their green job training programs.

She said a panel about climate change kicks off the Saturday sessions.
