U.K. Attacks Renew Calls to Ban Islamist Group

The recent attempted attacks in Britain have renewed debate about whether to ban an Islamist group there.

Hizb ut-Tahrir is a fringe organization that seeks to end Western-style government in Islamist countries and return to the form of universal Islamist government set out in the Koran.

Its supporters say it is committed to nonviolence and peaceful methods of achieving its goals; opponents say the group foments Islamist extremism.
